Last Monday night, February 23, 2025, the 1st Paterson Bolwarra Cubs and Scouts Group gathered for an exciting and educational evening on the water. Around 20 enthusiastic young members came together to hone their paddling skills and learn essential techniques for rescuing people from aquatic emergencies.
The event kicked off with the group brushing up on their canoeing and kayaking abilities, navigating the water with teamwork and determination. Under the guidance of their leaders, the Cubs and Scouts quickly transitioned into the night’s main focus: water rescue training. They practiced vital skills like throwing lines, approaching distressed swimmers, and safely assisting someone back to shore— all while building confidence and camaraderie.
The night was a perfect blend of fun and learning, showcasing the group’s commitment to developing practical life skills. For these young adventurers, it was more than just a chance to paddle; it was an opportunity to prepare for real-world challenges and make a difference in their community. The 1st Paterson Bolwarra Cubs and Scouts left the water that evening not just as better paddlers, but as budding lifesavers too!
